Multi-Factor Authentication is a security mechanism that provides an extra layer of defense to your ioTORQ LEAN account beyond just a password. It requires you to provide two or more different credentials to verify your identity, making it significantly more difficult for unauthorized individuals to access your account and sensitive information.

So why should you use multi-factor authentication? Here are a few key reasons:

  • Protection Against Password-related Issues: Many individuals reuse passwords across multiple accounts or choose weak passwords that are easy to guess. MFA mitigates these risks by requiring additional credentials beyond just your password. Even if your password is compromised, the attacker would still need additional factors to gain access to your ioTORQ LEAN account.

  • Compliance Requirements: MFA is often a mandatory requirement set by industry regulations and compliance standards, particularly for applications dealing with sensitive data or personal information. By enabling MFA, you ensure that your account meets these security standards, helping you adhere to relevant compliance regulations.

Setup

Using MFA will strengthen the security of your LEAN account during login. When enabled, MFA will verify user credentials through verification codes from the most common Authentication apps.

Supported authenticator methods:

  • Microsoft Authenticator

  • Google Authenticator

  • Authy

  • Email verification

To enable MFA, enter the User Profile and select "ENABLE" in the MFA section.

Authenticator App Set up:

It is possible to choose between An authenticator App and Email verification.

A modal will display a QR code you can scan with your chosen authenticator app.

You can enter the provided 6 digit OTP code from your code to activate MFA once the QR code has been scanned.

LEAN will provide you with a one-use code; it is essential to save this code securely, as it will be the only way to recover your account if you lose access to your authenticator app.
