Connect ChatGPT to your ioTORQ LEAN account to ask questions about your facilities, assets, downtime, maintenance metrics and changeovers directly from ChatGPT.

Before users can connect their LEAN accounts, an owner or admin of your organization's ChatGPT workspace must add ioTORQ LEAN.

Each user connects with their own LEAN account and can only access the LEAN information they are already authorized to see.

If you manage your organization's ChatGPT workspace, add ioTORQ LEAN once so that users can connect with their individual LEAN accounts.

Your organization's LEAN MCP address. Take the address you normally use to open LEAN and add /mcp to the end.
For example: https://yourcompany.iotorq-lean.com/mcp

A Client ID and Client Secret from ioTORQ Support. LEAN only accepts connections from AI applications that ioTORQ has registered for your organization. Registering one is a one-time step per AI application.

Contact ioTORQ Support at [email protected] and tell us:

We will send you a Client ID and a Client Secret for your organization.

Treat the Client Secret like a password: enter it only in ChatGPT's settings, and do not share it in chats, emails or documents.

In ChatGPT:

Developer mode lets an owner or admin add a custom connection such as ioTORQ LEAN.

Turning on Developer mode does not, by itself, give ChatGPT access to LEAN accounts or data. Each user connects and authorizes their own LEAN account separately.

Go to:

Settings → Plugins → Browse plugins. Select the + button to add a plugin.

Complete the Create MCP App form:

Review the information ChatGPT shows and select I understand and want to continue.

Select Create.

ChatGPT may show an Elevated risk warning when Developer mode is on or when you add a custom MCP server.

This is a general warning ChatGPT shows for every custom connection. It is not specific to ioTORQ LEAN.

You will be redirected to ioTORQ LEAN. Sign in as you normally do, with your LEAN username and password or your organization's single sign-on (SSO), and your multi-factor authentication code if you use one.

Your credentials are entered directly into LEAN; ChatGPT never receives your password.

Review the requested access and select Authorize.

The connection provides read-only access to supported LEAN information, including:

ChatGPT cannot change this data through the ioTORQ LEAN connection.

After you allow access, you'll be returned to ChatGPT. Confirm that ioTORQ LEAN appears in your workspace.

ioTORQ LEAN is now available for users in your organization to connect with their own LEAN accounts.

Each user must still connect with their own LEAN account. Users can only access information that their individual LEAN account is authorized to see.

Once an owner or admin has added ioTORQ LEAN to your organization's ChatGPT workspace, you can connect your individual LEAN account. You do not need a Client ID or Client Secret for this.

In ChatGPT:

When prompted, sign in as you normally do, with your LEAN username and password or your organization's single sign-on (SSO), and your multi-factor authentication code if you use one.

Your credentials are entered directly into LEAN; ChatGPT never receives your password.

Review the requested access and select Authorize.

The connection provides read-only access to supported LEAN information, including:

ChatGPT cannot change this data through the ioTORQ LEAN connection.

You can now use ChatGPT with ioTORQ LEAN.

ChatGPT can only access the LEAN information that your individual LEAN account is permitted to see. Connecting ChatGPT does not give you any additional permissions in LEAN.

When you want to use ioTORQ LEAN in a conversation:

After selecting ioTORQ LEAN in your conversation, ask:

ChatGPT should return the facilities your LEAN account has access to.

If it does, your connection is working and you're ready to start asking questions about your LEAN data.

To remove the connection:

ChatGPT's access to your LEAN account stops when the connection is removed.

Disconnecting ChatGPT does not change or delete anything in LEAN.

Make sure ioTORQ LEAN is selected from the + menu for the conversation you're in. Having the connection set up does not turn it on automatically in every conversation.

If ioTORQ LEAN isn't available in your company-managed ChatGPT workspace, it may not have been added yet.
