When planned downtime occurs, such as for crew breaks or product changeovers, we want the software to record these events separately from unplanned downtimes. To account for this as a planned downtime, use
Start a Switch phase
After selecting the Switch button, users can choose the cause and product to which the asset will be changed.
A list of possible planned downtime causes and products linked to this asset will pop up. Since these are all planned downtime events, the expected downtime duration is specified below.
You also have the option to keep running the same product during the planned downtime.
After selecting the product, you have the option to adjust the timeline; by using this, you can move the recording of the changeover to the beginning of the current downtime phase instead of when the input was made
For example, after a downtime started, the operator took 45 minutes before pressing the switch button; the timeline would look like this.
If the operator chooses to include the current downtime as part of the changeover, the timeline will look like this:
Select between:
- Yes: Include the current downtime in the changeover.
- No: Do not include the current downtime in the changeover.
Once this is submitted, the system will start a countdown clock based on the expected downtime duration. When the current switch duration exceeds the expected downtime duration (i.e. the countdown clock reaches zero), the system will consider that the asset is down and it will start a new "downtime" event.
Once the switch is complete and the product is being produced again, the system will automatically detect this, change the status to "running," and reset all widget data for the new product.
Manual Downtime Trigger:
Users can now manually trigger the downtime while an asset is in switch mode.
- While the asset is in Switch mode, the asset dashboard will display a Start Downtime (show image here like the switch button above?) button instead of the switch button.
- User can click this button to manually trigger a downtime for the respective asset by entering the cause of the downtime (See the whole process below).
Consecutive switches
It is possible to start a new switch while the system is already in a switch phase, for instance to record consecutive operations on a production line. To do so, click on the "start another switch" button located in the "Asset dashboard", shown during switch phases.
