Reducing Camera Resolution on Mobile Devices (iOS & Android)

This article is a help guide on how to reduce the camera resolution on mobile devices to prevent long and large file uploads to the server.

Sometimes large photos or videos may fail to upload due to file size limits. Lowering your device’s camera resolution can help reduce file size and make uploads easier.

iOS (iPhone / iPad)

Follow these steps to reduce the resolution of videos recorded on your device.

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Open the Settings app on your device.

  2. Scroll down and tap Camera.

  3. Tap Record Video.

  4. Select a lower resolution option from the list.

Example options may include:

  • 720p HD at 30 fps (smaller file size)

  • 1080p HD at 30 fps

Selecting a lower resolution (such as 720p) will reduce the size of your recorded videos.

Android Devices

Android devices vary widely depending on the manufacturer (Samsung, Google Pixel, etc.) and Android version. Because of this, the exact steps may differ.

General Steps (Typical Android Devices)

  2. Switch to Video or Photo mode.

  3. Tap the Settings ⚙️ icon in the camera interface.
